Pop megastar Taylor Swift surprised her fans (Swifties) when she revealed that “Taylor’s Version” of her album titled ‘1989’ will be released on October 27. Fittingly, the release date is the anniversary date of the album’s original release on October 27, 2014.
‘1989’ was the 5th studio album by Taylor Swift and it marked an important moment in her career as it was her first pop album and cemented her transition from the country music genre which she had catapulted to fame in.
The album was released via Big Machine Records and went on to top album charts worldwide, including the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia and Mexico to name a few. The project was bolstered by such successful singles as “Shake It Off”, “Out of the Woods, “Wildest Dreams” and “New Romantics”.
The world renowned DJ and producer who boldly bellows “WE THE BEST MUSIC” across his records is back!!!
DJ Khaled, known for his star-studded projects has dropped the lead single titled “Supposed to Be Loved” from his upcoming album release ‘TIL NEXT TIME’. The album will be Khaled’s 14th studio project as always, we can expect a project filled with a diversity of soundscapes and styles featuring collaborations with some of the biggest artists in the industry right now.
The “Supposed to be Loved” single features rap heavyweights Lil Baby, Future and Lil Uzi Vert and of course, with Khaled’s unmatched flair for the dramatic, he announced it via a compelling trailer released yesterday.

BE:FIRST‘s documentary film ‘BE:the ONE’ is spreading its wings as it is set to premiere in cinemas across Asia on Friday, August 25. The documentary takes an in-depth look into the group’s musical journey which details the period of the J-Pop boy group’s time on the audition program THE FIRST, (which is actually a part of the inspiration behind the group’s name conceived by Japanese rapper Sky-Hi), their ultimate debut and taking viewers through the series of BE:FIRST nationwide concerts across Japan
The film will be available in Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan. This is another landmark moment for the young group whose star has rose immensely since their debut album release last year.
International radio personality and producer DJ Platinum Vibes (aka DJ Kevin) and reggae entertainer Sugar Bear have released the music video for their illuminating electro pop / house hit “Me Myself and I”.
The narrative of “Me Myself and I” delves deep into the complexities of relationships. It paints the picture of a woman, empowered and resolute, ready to close a chapter of her life. She’s done, she’s moving on, and she’s confident in her decision. But as with any compelling story, there’s a twist…
Enter the male perspective, embodied by Sugar Bear, who isn’t ready to let go. With a barrage of charming verses, he tries to sway her, to remind her of what they had, and to perhaps rekindle a fading flame.
So where will this emotional rollercoaster that is “Me Myself and I” take the viewer? Will she move on? Or will his words pull her back into his arms? The stunning visuals hold the answer.
P-Pop boy group PLUUS have released a new soulful ballad titled “Missing You” in which they really showcase their vocal prowess, individually and as a harmonious unit.
Watch the official music video below and watch the Filipino six-member group harmonize to a romantic, cinematic driven production. This is a track you can certainly envision being incorporated into a romance thriller type of film or television program.
IMP is a 7-member Japanese male idol group that was launched on July 14 this year via the newly formed talent agency, TOBE, founded by Hideaki Takizawa, aka Tackey, who is a record producer and former singer and actor, as well as one-half of the duo Tackey & Tsubasa.
IMP is set to release their debut single titled “CRUISIN'” on August 18 and as such, have released a teaser video which in only 12 seconds, still highlights the vibrant pop vibes we can expect from this single.
Mark your calendars for August 18 and as the tweet below states, “#CRUISIN has started!!!!!!!”
Sister Deborah, the charismatic Ghanian-Romanian television presenter, musician and model, posted that her latest single “Ama PIANO” is available for streaming.
The genre-bending track has a unique mystique and style that’s sure to capture music listeners across a wide demographic. Watch the clip below and you will quickly understand my sentiments about this record. Keep playing that piano Sister Deborah. This is a boom.
Charts
V of BTS joined his BTS brethren as the latest member to drop a solo project. His single and music video for “Love Me Again” have received rave reviews from music pundits and fans alike while skyrocketing up the charts. According to leading music chart analysis and statistics provider @chartdata, the music video has sprung to #1 on the U.S. iTunes Music Video charts.
The vaunted Japanese Oricon charts recently issued their Weekly Albums Chart as of August 7 and two groups that we follow closely, NiziU and Naniwa Danshi have placed in the Top 10 at #8 and #9 respectively.
NiziU’s ‘COCONUT’ was released on July 19 and is the 9-member Japanese girl group’s second studio album, featuring such popular songs as “ASOBO”, “CLAP CLAP”, “Paradise” and “LOOK AT ME”.
Ironically, Naniwa Danshi’s “POPMALL” is also their second studio effort, which was released on July 12. The album features a number of successful singles like the Oricon chart-topping “Special Kiss” as well as “Poppin Hoppin Lovin” and “LAI-LA-LA”.
In other Oricon chart placements of note, THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE, another group we have followed intently, catapulted to the #1 spot on the latest Weekly Oricon Singles Chart with their Summer Riot / Everest maxi-single released on August 2.
The 16-member outfit also claimed the #2 spot on the Daily Singles Chart.
Awards
🏆 K-Pop idol group SEVENTEEN made a splash at the 2023 K Global Heart Dream Awards held at the KSPO Dome in Seoul, South Korea on August 10. SEVENTEEN won the K Global Bonsang (MAIN PRIZE) Award and their fandom, the CARATS, took to social media in droves to express their joy and extend congratulations to the 13-member group formed by Pledis Entertainment.
The 2023 K Global Heart Dream Awards is an annual ceremony filled with a star-studded audience and roster of performers. The event is meant to celebrate and reward K-Pop artists who have made an impact on the music landscape.
Concert Tours / Live Performances
🤩 For the second year in a row, SB19 appeared on the popular morning show ‘Good Day New York’ as they performed their international smash record “GENTO”. Once again, greeted by renowned host Rosanna Scotto, the dynamic Filipino idol group took to the studio stage and delivered a knockdown performance. Check it out via the YouTube link below.
Gracious and humble as always, SB19 thanked the morning show’s network, Fox 5 New York, and Rosanna Scotto personally for the opportunity. As I mentioned before, @fox5ny should definitely make this a tradition anytime SB19 comes to the Big Apple!
‘Good Day New York’ is a staple in the morning of millions of New Yorkers including myself. It was an awesome look for the P-Pop kings.
And while we’re on the topic of performances, SB19 is continuing the North American leg of their “PAGTATAG! World Tour” as they are set to perform a series of shows throughout Canada, starting off with tonight, August 11 in Pickering, Ontario just outside of Toronto.
This is the P-Pop Kings first performance in Canada and should be an awesome experience for the Canadian A’TIN, whom for many it will likely be their first time catching their Mahalima live. Watch the incredible vibes below!!!
SB19 will also perform in Winnipeg and Vancouver.
Milestones
📈 SixTONES, the 6-member J-pop idol group, highlighted a special milestone in the early days of their single “CREAK”‘s release. The music video has surpassed five million views on YouTube in just the first week of its release on August 4. Hey! with numbers climbing at this rate, I think it’s pretty safe to say, we’ll be right back here soon proclaiming its hit the milestone of 10 million views 😀
