New & Upcoming Releases
💿 🎥 South Korean boy band iKON posted a teaser concept video to their X account revealing a preview of their upcoming special single “Panorama” which is set to drop on August 23 at 6PM KST. The video features iKON member Jay (제이) in a pensive mode, interspersed between a variety of scenarios, which appear to be flashbacks.
Take a look at the concept video below and let us know your thoughts. iKON has been in the midst of a wildly successful world tour since May which has carried the 6-member band through various countries in Asia and Europe. In September, iKON will head to the United States to perform for the first time in 4 years and their first shows in America under new management 143 Entertainment. They will light up stages in new York City, Los Angeles and Chicago to name a few.
💿 🎥 Pop/R&B star Charlie Puth has unveiled a new single and music video (Watch below) which released Friday called “Lipstick”. As you can infer from the title, the song and video have a sultry mystique that the visuals in particular, capture brilliantly with its hazy, red lighting and intimate closeup shots of Puth singing the song juxtaposed by a variety of sensual moves and suggestive body language.
“Lipstick” will be the lead single of Puth’s upcoming LP, his 4th studio album, for which a release date has not been announced as of yet. “Lipstick” was produced by Happy Perez and Pop Wansel and the ensuing album will be a follow up to Puth’s 2022 effort, eponymously titled ‘Charlie’ which featured the hits “Left and Right” and “Light Switch”.
💿 📺 Japanese boy group BE:FIRST continues to make waves on the global music landscape as they are set to release a new single on August 30 with mentor SKY-HI.
The latest release will be a split single titled “Sarracenia”/”Salvia” which will be incorporated as the theme song for the opening and ending sections for the popular martial arts anime program Baki Hanma, which will air August 24 on Netflix.
And it doesn’t stop there….big night ahead on August 25 for BE:FIRST as their documentary will be released across theaters in Asia. Read our previous dash on it here.
Concert Tours / Live Performances
🎤 Maligayang bati… ALAMAT announced they will perform during the opening ceremonies at the 2023 FIBA World Cup on Aug. 25 at the acclaimed Philippine Arena in Bulacan. As such, the 6-member Filipino group will make history as the first P-Pop group to perform at the prestigious venue.
The announcement itself is a tremendous source of pride for ALAMAT fans and P-Pop music lovers overall, however, I can’t imagine the overwhelming emotion they will feel as the group bellows their signature phrase, “ALAMAT, handa rap” on such a large stage.
Charts
“Seven”, the collaboration single of BTS’ Jung Kook and rapper Latto continues to dominate global charts five weeks since its initial release. “Seven” ranks #1 on the Spotify Weekly and Daily Global Charts, the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US. The smash hit record also ranked high on the Apple Music Global Charts slotting in at #3. With another week about to start, we’ll see “Seven” will continue its mastery of the charts.
Milestones
🎤 おめでとう! J-Pop boy band IMP. thanks their fans (PINKYs) as the group’s debut music video “CRUISIN'” has soared past the vaunted 1 million views milestone on YouTube.
The release of “CRUISIN” is also significant as IMP. is the first group to debut for TOBE, the new talent agency formed by Japanese producer and singer Hideaki Takizawa.
Anniversaries
🎊 Widely regarded as the “Kings of K-Pop” and also upheld on a lofty pedestal as one of the most influential groups in K-Pop history by expanding the genre on the global landscape, the legendary Korean band BigBang will celebrate the 17th Anniversary of their debut on August 19.
Formed by YG Entertainment, BigBang’s official debut was launched on August 19, 2006 during the YG Family Anniversary Concert which took place at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul. Shortly thereafter, they released their first single, the self-titled track “BigBang”.
BigBang has gone on to release eight studio albums (recorded in Korean and Japanese), ten live editions and eight compilation albums over the course of their illustrious 17 year careers. BigBang has also released. a multitude of singles which have topped charts in several countries internationally including Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart and Melon charts.

🎊 British singer-songwriter Craig David made a tribute post commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the release of his groundbreaking debut LP, ‘Born to Do It’ in 2000 by Wildstar Records.
‘Born to Do It’ was a 2-step garage (subgenre of UK garage) and R&B album comprised of 12 tracks. The album was a huge commercial success as it has racked up over 7.5 million copies sold across the world making it one of the biggest records by a UK R&B artist to date.
The album, which also received an overwhelming flood of critical acclaim, featured such chart-topping singles as “Fill Me In”, “7 Days” and “Walking Away” which propelled several award nominations including, the BRIT, GRAMMY and MTV Music Video Awards.
