KioLLUMINATI is a rapper and producer out of California who pulls no punches when it comes to his recordings. He manifests his life experiences and introspective reflections within himself into songs that resonate with an appealing authenticity. KioLLUMINATI’s tracks detail situations from his past, how they’ve affected his present and the outlook going forward.

With that in mind, KioLLUMINATI’s music is essentially a glimpse into him and he hasn’t veered from that creative direction since his emergence on the scene with the 2021 single Fed Up. Having released a flurry of singles since that point, with a couple of EP releases mixed in, the proficient artist has released a track titled “While It Lasts” which we’re going to take a dive into.

“While It Lasts” represents the signature KioLLUMINATI track as it touches on a period of his life he reflects on in which he experienced an abundance of trials and tribulations, and ultimately came out on the other side to brighter prospects. I view “While It Lasts” as a song of survival and persevering when the road gets rough. KioLLUMINATI drops a number of lyrical gems as he recounts interactions with his close friends at the time, situations of loss and the vital decisions he had to make in order to make the best life for himself. The decisions were difficult but it’s what had to be done for him to eventually flourish.

From listening over and over to “While It Lasts” gaining my own perspective and thoughts on it, it was also extremely insightful to see KioLLUMINATI explain the crux of the song and share the intimate details of his life behind how the song developed.

While It Lasts basically explains a time period in my life when I was at my lowest point. Fast forward to now and I’m in a way better position chasing my dreams. During the height of COVID I had to take a huge leap of faith not knowing what would happen to me afterwards. Hard times don’t last forever and that’s the main point of the song while at the same time paying homage to the people that I met along the way who helped me get to this point.
I wasn’t blessed with a functional family like most people, my mother passed away as well as my father and I only care about my two younger siblings. Me and my siblings are on the same page when it comes to my mom’s side of family and my dad’s side. A lot of lies were told and money is all people tend to care about nowadays so that shit infects everyone with a sense of greed.
I make music solely to tell my story and the things that I’ve gone through, if you listen to most of my songs you can learn everything about me because I am so raw with how I tell my story. I know there is someone out there who has gone through the things that I have; I want to remind people that no matter what happens in life you can still push through it.

That explanation puts the song into such a deep context. This profound track is performed over a wistful, reflective type beat that conjures up images of someone being wrapped up in their thoughts or imagination. It has a soulful, R&B feel that is meshed very well with a hip-hop percussion. KioLLUMINATI delivers a mellow, “matter-of-fact” flow that matches the chilled out vibe of the instrumentation, however, still knowing when to add inflection and intent in his voice to get the point across of whatever the lyrics are stating.
