Wow, what an ironic piece this article is! Given how the presence of online distribution and streaming has essentially opened up the music biz to anyone with a computer and a mic, it was surprising to get a glimpse into the actual figures related to touring revenue. The mega super star is earning a disproportionately larger share of touring revenue. The factor that the mega-star categorization only represents the top 1% is even more alarming. It’s almost as if the music industry is a microcosm of society.
