The list of accomplishments is endless when speaking on music savant and consummate professional Ayhan Sahin. The New York based singer-songwriter, producer and entrepreneur has crafted a successful career over the course of almost two decades firmly establishing his name within mainstream and indie circles.
Sahin’s lauded works in a wide range of genres including pop, rock, dance, world and musical theater have seen him work with such notable names in the music industry as Olivia Newton-John, Randy Jones of The Village People, Melba Moore, Broadway star Bianca Marroquin and five American Idol finalists to name a few. Sahin’s music has also been featured on numerous high powered media outlets including MTV, CNN, Perez Hilton, The Wendy Williams Show, USA Today and many more to name.
Sahin has also placed an indelible stamp on the indie music scene stemming from his creation of independent label Young Pals Music in 2007 via which he has collaborated with a bevy of artists across the globe and has been involved with the release of a plethora of projects over the course of that time; it has displayed Sahin’s adept and diverse sense of music production and the label currently boasts a substantial group of dynamic recording artists.

Today we’re spotlighting a luminous single titled “I Like You”, the 5th single release from his latest album project Pop, which dropped in 2021, for which a scenic, captivating music video was also recently released this month.
“I Like You” is an upbeat and engaging, charming pop/rock ballad that possesses a vivid soundscape. The instrumentation is spearheaded by a plush section of acoustic guitar phrases, and of note, the opening electric guitar riff has a funky disco element which really gives the track a dynamic appeal sonically. Backed by a prominent, crashing percussion that resonates with aplomb, “I Like You” awakens your listening senses from the first note.
Co-written with longtime collaborators Bernadette O’Reilly and Emre Yilmaz, “I Like You” actually came together in the midst of the pandemic as Sahin was somehow able to gather his preferred group of standout musicians to the Young Pals Studio based in Lower Manhattan (Mike Sorrentino – drums, Carras Paton – bass, Gene Blank – guitars, Rob Preuss – piano, with Keith Fluitt and Jerri Bocchino on backing vocals). When Bernadette showed me the new song she started working on, I wanted to sing it because I knew what it meant to her and I knew that I could deliver it the way she wanted because I was also relating to the words myself. I am very proud of the outcome. Not only the song met with my vision but also allowed me to try as a vocalist a challenge that I wouldn’t dare otherwise.
Sahin delivers an expressive, emotive vocal performance that is first-rate in conveying the emotions and concept of the song. It comes off with a magnetic authenticity as his smooth vocal tones ride the waves of the music. He also displays his adept showmanship as his vocal inflections are perfectly placed and timed in order to deliver the point of the lyrics. An infectious vocal improv “na-na-na” and “bah-da-bah-dap” also provides an extra dose of pizazz for this illuminating track.
Through a course of cleverly laid out, suggestive and flirtatious lyricism, “I Like You” is a song that is easy to immerse yourself in as you make your way through the track… fully engaged in the illuminating song and composition.

Singer/Songwriter/Producer Ayhan Sahin has achieved notoriety in a range of musical genres, from pop, rock and dance to musical theater.
In the mainstream arena, Sahin has worked with Frida (ABBA), Olivia Newton-John, Randy Jones from The Village People, Anita Ward, Sandra Bernhard, Melba Moore, Phoebe Snow, Turkish superstar Sezen Aksu, Broadway star Bianca Marroquin and five “American Idol” finalists, including Norman Gentle, Vonzell Solomon and Jon Peter Lewis.
His music has been featured on CNN, Fox Good Day America, The Los Angeles Times, Playbill, MTV, Univision, Yahoo! Music, Fox Morning News, “The Wendy Williams Show” and Style Network; and heralded by USA Today, New York magazine, MTV, Perez Hilton and The New York Daily News.
In 2007, Sahin founded independent label Young Pals Music, producing/co-writing three full-length albums for Universal Records artist Karine Hannah. Illustrating his musical diversity, he has also produced projects for Chilean-American singer/songwriter Promis; Puerto Rican actor/singer Mitch Zorba; MTV “Making the Band” finalist Adam Shenk; French artist Lybert Ramade; acclaimed Georgian singer/songwriter Tinatin; and Turkish singer/songwriter/guitarist Emre Yilmaz. With Dennis DelGaudio, a classically trained guitarist and member of Billy Joel’s band, Sahin released production duo album “DNA”; and single “Bitch Slap!” for “American Idol” finalist and comedic talent Norman Gentle. He co-wrote and produced Award-Winning Broadway star Bianca Marroquin’s first-ever solo album “El Mundo Era Mio” in 2014.
His latest project is a production album “Pop” with co-writer/co-producer Bernadette O’Reilly featuring platinum seller Randy Jones, Anita Ward, Broadway star David Keeley, country artist Christi Bauerlee and more.
