Possessing a penchant for artistic creativity can be manifested in a variety of ways and that’s what makes it such a wondrous ability. Music producer THISISREALLYCHRIS is a perfect example of said artistic versatility as he is not only a burgeoning recording artist but has also cultivated a flourishing career as an art director for brands across the world.
Today, we’re going to spotlight THISISREALLYCHRIS’ debut entry on the music landscape, an ear-catching mellow electronic instrumental track titled “Escape”. “Escape” has a chillout mystique to it but has enough of a midtempo soundscape that you can groove or nod your head to it; extremely easy to immerse yourself in this track with an undeniable combination of its clap covered snare drum, infectious guitar riff and accompanying tropical-infused and synth-laden, ambient melodies.
The tone is crisp and pristine which is a nod to the sound design and production on the song, but there’s also an infectious vocal harmony incorporated throughout, simple, but extremely rhythmic and really accentuates the overall vibe to the song. So hey!, as instrumentals don’t have words, it’s essential that the instrumentation tells a story and as you listen to “Escape” it literally feels as if you’re virtually on an island getaway or taking in a relaxing day at the beach. That’s my personal escape!
So what inspired THISISREALLYCHRIS to cook up this dazzling track?!? Below, he shares what sparked the creation of “Escape” and also provided tremendous insight into his music journey, past, present and future…..
I have been creating music in secret since the age of 16 as a hobby and pastime. This year I decided to finally go mainstream and start releasing singles. I work as a very successful Art Director for brands all over the world, creating content for their digital distributions since 2016. I plan on releasing numerous singles throughout the following two years as I complete my second degree in Sound Engineering in Cape Town. After which I will produce my first EP titled White Water in late 2024.
Escape, my first single, is an instrumental vibe influenced by folk beats and dance rhythms. Simple but groovy. I am focusing on making music I personally enjoy listening to, and learning something new with every release. My music is lively and always something you can move to. My current schedule is to release a new single at least once a month, while I work on producing my EP. I am inspired by Synthwave and EDM dance music, with a love for folk drums and ethnic beats native to my country of origin. I am inspired by different cultures and languages, finding something to learn from various different musical approaches. This is the start of my journey as an artist. I am excited to share my human experience through music.
