“Wave Gods” – NAS ft. A$AP Rocky, DJ Premier
Channels that classic hip-hip sound and vibe from the golden era of the genre in the 90’s. What would you expect from two giants of hip-hop who emerged from that era. Nas delivers bars of pure gold and of course, a DJ Premier track would not be “Primo” without his signature scratch patterns which are musical in themselves. It’s a refreshing bit of nostalgia that’s beautifully linked to the contemporary with a feature by A$AP Rocky.

“We Good (From The TV Show “DAVE”)” – LIL DICKY, GATA
Boommode vibes are abound in this hip-hop/R&B type track. Has such an infectious melody and rhythm driven by an incredible guitar riff but it’s layered with a pounding bass drum that gives it an imposing aura. Can’t help but take notice, especially with Lil Dick and GaTa’s in your face vocal performances. Bet you won’t get the catchy chorus out your head anytime soon either 🙂

“Love In the Music”- BAAUER
Who’s in the mood to dance?!? Well, here you go, a mesmerizing electronic bonanza with a groove that has an undeniable danceability. Alright! even more dance music, but this track is on a more electro pop/future house vibe. Veteran German DJ Klaas delivers a track with big tyme melody and rhythm that has an unmistakable appeal for its bounce and vibrancy. Emmie Lee contributes a powerful and lively vocal performance which makes this a bona fide smash in the EDM world.

Intriguing alt pop track, has a unique soundscape that has some electronic elements but is propelled by a brilliantly infused acoustic guitar. The fusion creates a distinct sounding composition that overall has a cool aura. The accompanying melancholic vocals make for an interesting listening experience.

“Butterfly Effect” – SOPHIE HOLOHAN
Spectacular vocal performance…that’s the word for this wonderful new release by Sophie Holohan. Her voice flows angelically over an acoustic soundscape. Sophie’s vocal delivery has a presence that draws you into the song as you hang onto every word she utters oh so harmoniously. Amazing listen and exceptionally well-written song. She’s only 19! I can imagine what the future holds for this dynamic talent.

“never had a place” – JADU JADU, TAMBALA
This one hit me right away with it’s distinct instrumentation. It’s a lo-fi R&B type of sound that possesses a collection of sounds that I can’t quite put my finger on what they are but they all make for compelling sonics when they are put together. It’s an ambient, earthy type of aura that’s further enhanced with a longing, reflective vocal performance. One of those tracks you definitely have to keep going back to.

“Stop” – ELSIE MAE
Quintessential pop track with all the components that make up a pop song with mass appeal. Vibrant instrumental with an equally high-spirited vocal performance plus catchy hook. What more do you want?!? Elsie Mae delivers an exceptional vocal performance on this track. It has an empowering attitude to it as she tells an ex to stop chasing her….it’s over! Projects an appealing authenticity that gravitates you to the track.

Whoa! Blown away by this illuminating track from the Canadian chart-topping production tandem Lucky Rose. This dance track is a perfect example of why they’ve accumulated a catalog of songs which have placed on a variety of charts in Canada including the Billboard Top 40. Such a lively track, bright and overrunning with energy which is complemented perfectly by a zestful vocal performance by Mila Falls.

“Christmas in the Hood” – SY ARI DA KID
Hee! we had to drop at least one Christmas themed song in lol, BUT this is far from your average Christmas song. Sy Ari Da Kid drops a lyrical masterpiece on this acoustic based song which provides a vivid reflection into his memories and perceptions of Christmas as a child growing up in the hood. It’s a brilliant piece of songwriting and lyricism that paints an extremely vivid picture of what Sy is attempting to portray. A must-listen track!!!
