Nas released his landmark debut album Illmatic on Columbia Records at the age of 20.

Illmatic went on to be critically acclaimed and widely regarded to this day as one of the best rap albums of all time.

The classic 10-track LP peaked at #2 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and soared to #12 on The Billboard 200.

MC Serch of rap group 3rd Bass served as executive producer while, Q-Tip, Pete Rock and Large Professor contributed to the legendary project as producers.

Illmatic yielded such classic hits as “The World is Yours” and “It Ain’t Hard to Tell”.

Another notable distinction Illmatic received was a five-mic rating from hip-hop magazine The Source, which was nearly impossible to achieve at the time.
