Rook Monroe has built an illustrious resume as a songwriter having penned songs for the likes of Rihanna, The Chainsmokers and Jeremih to name a few.
The dynamic songwriter has stepped to the forefront with his debut solo EP, Californialand and we’re going to talk about an enticing single off the EP titled “Honey”
“Honey” is Rook’s third release off of his debut EP. The track touches on Rook’s longing reflections of a sweet summer romance and the emotions it invoked.
“Honey” is an outstanding track in every aspect from the composition to the lyrics and to the crisp production overall.
The instrumentation and sound design is enveloped in an appealing vibrant and bright tone created by production duo Trackside.
Rook’s lead vocals are exceptional in matching that same aural energy and the arrangement is super in the way the background harmonies compliment his lead vocals..
His vocal delivery captured the essence of the song’s concept as he croons each word in such an authentic, emotive manner.

Rook explains the track’s meaning further, “Sometimes you can’t help who you fall for – seeing what you want to see, as everything around you both falls apart. Honey is about finding light in situations where there isn’t any, simply because everything is sweeter when you’re in love.”
