Toronto rapper TK is an emerging artist and creative on the city’s bustling music scene.
TK has capitalized on his exposure to a wide variety of genres aside from hip-hop such as dancehall reggae, soft rock, pop and jazz to formulate a versatile and distinct style on the microphone.
He demonstrates that unique flow in his single titled “Stacks”.
TK describes “Stacks” as “a song representing women who getting that bag. Late nights and early mornings. During this time period is when they are most alive”.
StreamLINE had the pleasure of checking it out and it was definitely a listening session in repeat mode!
“Stacks” is a boommode track that’s driven by a vibrant and infectious beat.
The booming kick, claps and rolling snares project a captivating energy that is rounded off with an indelible melody. Kudos on the production.
Now to TK’s vocal performance! His adept lyricism is top notch and on full display all throughout the track.
He demonstrates a higher level of wordplay, punchlines and metaphors through his spitfire flow which he switches up cadence mid-bar into a staccato.
That’s the type of vocal versatility that will set him apart from the majority of rappers in the field today.
His tonality and vocal presence are reminiscent of hip-hop’s early days, however he is still able to mesh this with a modern, contemporary flair.
TK also displays a knack for being able to relay a story through his lyricism which is another appealing feature of the song.
