MJ&N is a female producer duo spearheaded by a pair of dynamic musicians and vocalists named Madame Jae and Ntrospec. The two recording artists first linked up in 2022 and have since manifested their common interests, particularly in the field of mental health, into a thought-provoking 11-track album symbolically titled ‘MotivNation:Awareness‘, which was released recently in May of this year.
Today, we’re spotlighting the lead single from the album titled “Tik Tock”, which is a poignant song and composition. The track’s lyricism and concept provides profound insight into a relatable set of circumstances which can induce mental turmoil within many people; presenting a situation that many struggle with privately.
The song’s empowering messaging is backed by an eclectic production which features a 90’s hip-hop style boom bap drum pattern, layered with a lo-fi, atmospheric soundscape that is driven by a haunting, yet melodiously hypnotizing keyboard chord progression.
The unique sound possesses an underlying symphonic feel to it overall as the graceful, engaging vocals of MJ&N gently flow across the instrumentation. The warm and understanding tone that their vocals project go a long way in conveying the concept of this track perfectly.

Tik Tock is the lead single of our first album, MotivNation: Awareness. Tik Tock was written based on the narrative of how fast time goes and how alone a person can feel with their inner thoughts eating away at them. This can put people in dark places, due to feeling rushed or never seeming to have time to regroup or relax. MotivNation: Awareness was released in May 2023 in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and was originally created as a passion project in efforts to destigmatize mental health in the music industry as well as in our own communities. The album features artists who shared personal stories and experiences with their own mental health struggles in the lyrics.
