Carl Davis, better known professionally as BlackLight is a multi-dimensional electronic music producer, songwriter and recording artist who has crafted a substantial catalog of rousing music that’s prone to get the bodies moving and jump starting the party wherever it is played.
Last year, the Omaha, Nebraska native operated in overdrive mode as he dropped a plethora of singles, including standouts such as “Bring Me That Feeling“, “Come Party With Me” and “Don’t Stop” to name a few. BlackLight delivers on that concept tenfold as every component of “Beautiful People” presents an exuberant, colorful vibe right at the outset of the track, as a surging percussion buildup climaxes into the lead groove which possesses an undeniable danceability.
A pulsating bass line creates the rock solid foundation for an incredible assortment of synth driven melodies, ambient elements and their accompanying harmonics. The production and arrangement on “Beautiful People” creates a top level soundscape, kudos as well to the pristine sound design before I go any further, but ultimately it’s the infectious groove that steals the show with this song.
Another aspect of the track that has a magnetic appeal is the masterful incorporation of various vocal interpolations throughout that ride the instrumentation seamlessly. A velvety female vocal chimes in repeating the hook while the male counterpart belts some catchy directives to the listeners in a bold, emcee style reminiscent of the early years of rap music’s emergence.
