A Los Angeles County jury of seven women and five women have returned a guilty verdict against rapper Tory Lanez in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in the summer of 2020.
The Canadian rapper was remanded into custody immediately and will await sentencing in which he faces up to 23 years in prison and ultimately deportation as Lanez is a Canadian citizen.
In a case that has been rife with a number of conflicting theories, mysterious narratives and statements alike, as well as garnering a passionate support from music fans and industry pros, pundits and artists….staunchly supporting Megan or Tory, it was no surprise that the courtroom exploded into “pandemonium” according to various reports.
Particularly, Tory Lanez’ father, Sonstar Peterson erupted into a boisterous outburst along with Tory’s stepmother that continued outside the courthouse as he addressed reporters in a defiant tone exclaiming repeatedly, “It’s not over!”. See an excerpt of the video posted below.
In full length clips, Sonstar would also go on to call out the LA prosecutors, the only independent witness Sean Kelly and even Megan’s management Roc Nation along with its high profile executives Jay-Z and Desiree Perez.

This verdict surely turns the rap world upside down as we mentioned before, fans have rallied behind Megan or Tory firmly. Does the conviction sway supporters of Tory or does it make them stand their ground even firmer in support. What about artists such as Da Baby and Drake made references of Megan lying about the incident in recent songs?
Will some of the vitriol that Megan has received over the course of these last two years dissipate? Who knows, but the courts and jury have spoken, and we will see what unfolds from hereon.
