KoviNo is a dynamic rapper, songwriter and audio engineer who first emerged on the music landscape with his debut EP Afterlife in 2020, followed by his breakout album release in 2021 titled Finesse Season.
The 29 year old indie recording artist, born Julius Caldwell, has continued to build on the surge of momentum created from his previous releases with a prolific 2022; having already dropped a full-length album project Finesse Season 2 and a bevy of singles…one of which is the spotlight of today’s feature, a boommode track called “Dubb”.
“Dubb” distinguishes itself immediately by its eclectic soundscape that shapes into the form of an electro/trap hip-hop sounding instrumental. The chillout-tempo beat has a core West Coast type of vibe driven by a catchy synthesizer melody that’s reminiscent of those Dr. Dre hits off of the classic Chronic album. “Dubb” is also accentuated with a brooding chord progression and an underlying bass line which adds a dramatic flair to the track overall.
The tones give off a menacing feel as KoviNo blazes the mic with a “matter-of-fact” vocal delivery draped in a tasteful auto-tuned flanger effect. The intent in his voice is on full display and his flow exudes an unapologetic confidence with every bar that he drops. KoviNo boldly states in the hook….
