Travis Scott Denies Liability in Astroworld Festival Tragedy, Per Court Documents

Travis Scott denies all allegations of liability and negligence in numerous lawsuits filed against him for the deadly events that took place at the Astroworld Festival in November, per court documents filed by Scott’s attorneys.
More than 140 lawsuits have been filed in the wake of the Astroworld tragedy that claimed the lives of ten people. A majority of the lawsuits claim that Scott and other defendants including Cactus Jack Records and Live Nation were negligent in taking the proper precautions to ensure safety at the festival and prioritized the huge profits they stood to make at the event.
The court documents filed by Scott’s attorneys stated that “Defendants generally deny the allegations set forth,” thereby they are requesting that the claims be dismissed with prejudice which ultimately means they cannot be brought to court again.
The filings on behalf of Scott were publicly criticized by the family of Bharti Shahani, a 22-year-old university student who died at the festival, and representatives for Joseph Ferguson, who also was an attendee.
Travis Scott’s attempt to escape responsibility for creating a deadly situation from which his fans could not escape is shameful and, sadly, true to form, said Houston attorney James Lassiter.
Lassiter represents the family of Shahani and several other festival attendees who suffered significant injuries that deadly evening.
The Houston attorney further elaborated, While he continues using social media to present a public image of someone who is grieved by the catastrophic loss of life that his actions caused, he is quietly paying celebrity lawyers to argue his victims deserve nothing more than symbolic help with funeral costs.
Scott has offered to cover the funeral costs for those who died in the crowd crush during the concert, however, most notably, the family of Ezra Blount, the 9-year old and youngest victim of the tragedy, declined the gesture.
The attorney for Joseph Ferguson, Benny Agosto Jr., stated it would be “very premature at this stage” to file a dismissal. Agosto was one of several attorneys to file a motion last Friday with the Texas Supreme Court that aims to consolidate the lawsuits of the Astroworld Festival victims into one case.
