Astroworld Festival Victim Bharti Shahani Dies From Injuries She Suffered at the Event Last Week

The family of Bharti Shahani has confirmed that the 22-year-old Texas A&M University senior has died as a result of injuries she suffered at the Astroworld Festival. She studied computer programming at Texas A&M and was due to graduate in the spring and had already arranged a summer internship.
Shahani becomes the ninth person to die from the tragic events that took place at the Travis Scott show six days ago.
Shahani had showed no brain activity shortly after her hospitalization and had been on a ventilator up until the point of her untimely passing.
She had been in attendance at the concert with her sister Namrata Shahani and her cousin Mohit Bellani, but they became separated from each other as the crowd began to surge.
Bellani detailed, “Once one person fell, people started toppling like dominos. It was like a sinkhole. People were falling on top of each other. There were like layers of bodies on the ground, like two people thick. We were fighting to come up to the top and breathe to stay alive.”
Bharti had suffered multiple heart attacks from the crush and was taken to Houston Methodist Hospital by ambulance, where paramedics gave her CPR en route.
