Here are my 5 top picks out of the list from New Music Friday on Spotify. Growing up I like to listen to many different genres, I still do now but on Spotify. In this list, I have randomly chosen a song that sounds catchy or soothing to me. However, the number one thing I look for in a song is the meaning in its lyrics. A song can sound great but it has to have some meaning to it for me. Unless it is an instrumental song.

This is number one because of its message. The message is so encouraging and soul-revitalizing every time I listen to it. As a fan of “Slide” singer H.E.R., the collab with Kane Brown is a cherry on the top! Both religious and non-religious people can be inspired by this song.

Straightforward and hilariously honest this song is, “Welcome to the Internet” targets this digital-obsessed era perfectly regarding its advantages and horrors. Their music video also has an interesting way of expressing the common trends that go on on the internet I think is very smart to show.

Like my first pick, “Rise” is empowering, reminding us that we can reach our dreams just don’t be discouraged by the hurdles up ahead. The upbeat sound of the drums in this song as it gradually builds up with the chorus makes the song’s lyrics unbelievably stronger.

Although I am a single-pringle, I love this song. If I were to go through a breakup, I would recommend listening to this to feel more confident and happily move on with my life alone or find someone else new.

Ironically, this song hits close to home because we all struggle with some mental health issues regardless of status. Ashinikko executes this topic beautifully by not shying away from serious topics like these but instead being authentic with herself as a human being and a celebrity.
