▶️ 2008 : Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” propelled him to become the first artist since 50 Cent in 2005 to sell more than 1 million copies of an album in a single week. The album went on to sell 3 million copies.

▶️ 2000 : Eighteen months after Billboard started factoring airplay into their Hot 100 chart, “Try Again” by Aaliyah became the first song to hit the top spot based on airplay alone, as the song was not available for purchase as a single.

▶️ 1972 : The Rolling Stones’ album “Exile On Main Street “climbed to #1 in the U.S.

▶️ 1965 : James Brown released “Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag.” It would become Brown’s first song to reach the Billboard Hot 100 Top Ten.
