Now, in addition to those who pay to actually be present at a concert, the music industry can monetize everyone who couldn’t obtain tickets, or who doesn’t always feel like going out to see their favorite acts perform.

The Music Industry Does It Again!

Hello everybody! Don’t look know but the music industry once again finds ways to reinvent and shape itself according to the mode of the times.

So in this era of digital focus and technology advancement, the music industry is turning its sights towards live performances in virtual reality (VR).

Since streaming continues to shift the economics of music industry, live performances have become more significant than ever as a source of revenue.

The Forbes.com article referenced provides tremendous insight into this burgeoning trend of virtual reality concerts.

What are your thoughts? Do you feel that virtual reality concerts will take off?

Thoughts on Virtual Reality (VR) Concerts

I’ve been a critic of certain music industry practices and trends over the years but I’m highly optimistic about the boom of VR concerts.

I believe their popularity will surge because the VR concerts provide ways for the physical concert go-ers and those music lovers who cannot attend to enjoy the live performances of their favorite artists.

Who else benefits from VR Concerts?

In addition, the trend has of course made way for emerging sources of revenue in technology as apps such as MelodyVR have flourished.

As a result, major artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Sean Paul, Five Finger Death Punch, The Kooks, Fleet Foxes, Fall Out Boy, Jamiroquai and The Who just to name a few have already either performed or are slated to perform virtually.

I view this as a rare situation where it’s a win-win situation for the music industry AND the consumer!
