When thinking of an MD, the last thing associated is an MC. But, MC RageMD is changing that perspective. RageMD is a pediatrician and rapper. The intersection makes him an intriguing music artist with a unique perspective. The rising star has released numerous singles since his debut in 2017, and he has worked with notable talents such as Benny The Butcher. RageMD makes his return with his debut EP, “Be Right There.” “Be Right There” is a four-track EP where RageMD showcases his lyrical prowess and provides listeners with heartfelt, resonating stories. The EP does justice to the Hip-Hop/Rap genre.

The EP kicks off with the hopeful, inspiring record, “Vitruvian Man.” “Vitruvian Man” takes the listener on a journey through the life of RageMD. The track has a deep tone and a classic Hip-Hop sound. Track two, “You Don’t Know,” speeds up the tempo. The song is an Alternative Hip-Hop record that RageMD spits fast, quick-witted bars. RageMD is a new father, and “You Don’t Know” is dedicated to his baby boy. The hook really hooks listeners in. The penultimate and titular song, “Be Right There,” is a storytelling Rap record. The track is an anthem that emphasizes being there for loved ones. RageMD lays down powerful, comforting imagery over a bouncy, wavy beat. The EP closes with the poppy, tropical Hip-Hop/Rap track, “I am.” The guitar-laced record makes listeners want to dance and march at the same time. The juxtaposition between the upbeat beat and motivational lyrics makes listeners feel joyous and hopeful, and makes the song the perfect finale.

Canadian-Tamil rapper Rageen “RageMD” Rajendram demonstrates his versatility through his debut EP. The EP is a sonic and literal journey that will captivate even the pickiest of listeners. RageMD has accompanied the release of the EP with a series of “Letters to my Son” on social media, which provides a deeper insight into the inspiration behind each track on the EP, and invites listeners into his world as a father and storyteller. RageMD is well on his way to becoming the next great act to come out of Canada. The EP, “Be Right There,” is just what the doctor ordered.
