Moonbin, the South Korean singer, performer and actor and a member of the K-pop group ASTRO, has died at the age of 25. He was discovered dead in his home in Seoul Wednesday evening.

Moonbin’s untimely death was spurred on an outpouring of tributes across the social media by shocked and distraught fans.

The death of Moonbin was confirmed by Astro’s label, Fantagio, via a statement that was posted to their official Twitter account. A portion of the statement reads, “On April 19, ASTRO member Moon Bin suddenly left us and became a star in the sky” while it also states that they are “deeply mourning the deceased in such great sadness and shock.”

After hours of public speculation surrounding Moonbin’s passing, local police have revealed “It appears that Moonbin took his own life,” according to a statement released to Yonhap News.

Moonbin had made a name for himself in the entertainment business from a young age having been a child model and actor before debuting as a member of ASTRO in 2016.

The six-member group released three studio albums since their debut, including the most recent release, A Drive to the Starry Road, which was released in 2022. In addition, Moonbin was also a member of the sub-group Moonbin & Sanha, which released three EP

Moonbin is survived by members of his family which includes his sister Moon Sua, a fellow K-Pop idol who is a member of the girl group Billlie.
