King & Prince Sets Another Group Record as New Album “Mr. 5” Sells Over 900,000 Copies on First Day

Japanese idol group King & Prince released their highly anticipated album “Mr. 5” Wednesday, April 19, and the response has been expectedly overwhelming as Billboard Japan confirmed that the double-disc record sold over 900,000 copies in its first day of availability and its currently steamrolling towards the vaunted 1 million mark if it hasn’t passed it already.
The remarkable figure of over 900k sales establishes “Mr. 5” as the best selling of King & Prince’s five studio album releases. King & Prince has achieved this remarkable feat in the face of members, Yuta Jinguji and Sho Hirano’s announced departure from the group on May 22, with Yuta Kishi planning to leave later in the year towards the fall.
The 2-disc record “Mr. 5” serves as a “greatest hits” project which contains an incredible compilation of the group’s most popular hits including a new song titled “Beautiful Flower”, as well as songs that were either not originally issued as singles or distributed as promo singles.
The album is available in four separate editions in either CD or DVD format and depending which edition is purchased, fans will be treated to a whopping range of 22-32 tracks in total.
