Ballistik Boyz (BBZ) is a male dance and vocal group from Japan comprised of seven members (Member List below). They were formed in 2018 by LDH Japan Inc. and are signed to the Rhythm Zone record label under the Avex Group umbrella.

“Animal” is a single off of BBZ’s most recent album release Pass the Mic which was unveiled on November 24, 2021. “Animal” was released prior to that in February of 2021 and immediately resonated with BBZ fans with its catchy blend of pop, hip-hop, dance and R&B elements.

The chart-busting hit peaked at #10 on the Oricon charts and #57 on the Billboard Hot 100 Japan and has also risen in popularity with an international audience beyond Japan since its
debut on New York City-based digital radio station WPVR, Platinum Vibes Radio, which broadcasts to a global audience.

What makes “Animal” such an incredible song?

What makes this song special is its high quality. The mic relay, which mixes the unique voices of the seven members who performed their own singing
parts during the recording, is wonderful.

In Verse 1, MASA starts singing in falsetto, and then RYUTA follows with an intricate passage that moves the song. Then Ricky’s rhythmical voice and RYUSEI’s core voice lead up to the extremely catchy and melodic chorus.

In Verse 2, Yosi enters with an emotional expressiveness which compliments Miku’s catchy voice, and RIKI’s low-pitched rap for a very impressive sound overall. The lines and ad libs between the lead vocals are also important accents of the tune.

In the final chorus, the beautiful falsetto shakes the emotions yet it is comfortable to listen to. “Animal” is a wonderful song that brings together the goodness of the seven members’ talents. I want you to watch the wonderful music video (Link below) as well.
The catchy and refreshing choreography was created by them all, mainly by MIKU.
