Young phenom Ava Bryant is a singer, songwriter and producer who has made a resounding splash on the music landscape ever since her breakout single, “Always You” dropped in 2018. The critically acclaimed release jumpstarted Ava’s career as a recording artist, including another successful follow up single, titled “I Take It All Back“, in which she worked with the youngest Jonas brother, Frankie Jonas.

Surging full speed ahead head since her entrance on the music scene, Ava has cultivated an expansive music and performance background into a distinct brand of pop music. Her artistry is a virtual canvas of her life experiences and deep inner thoughts which she conveys brilliantly with a vocal delivery that’s not only engaging in its tone and harmony; but her voice also carries an authentic emotion which she projects with a relatability that music listeners are definitely inclined to gravitate towards.

That brings us to Ava’s latest effort, a single named “give me you”, which is also a part of a new 5-track EP, fittingly titled “my life so far“.

Ava elaborates on the concept of “give me you” as she shares, “this song is meant to represent the feelings of excitement and longing that come from being in close proximity to a crush. Something as simple as your knees touching can send you into tunnel vision where everything thought in your head – for that moment – is about them. All you want in that moment is for them to take a chance on you.”

Ava tackles this subject matter prevalent in young romance with a heartfelt genuineness that is refreshing and brings the story to you visually. Her expressive lyricism and vocal performance conjure up mental images as you listen, even harkening back memories for those of us who far beyond our teen years.

“give me you” is extremely relatable as nearly everyone has experienced these feelings at some point in their life so whether it’s your current circumstance or an experience from the past, this song resonates across any age demographic.

“give me you” personally takes me back to the helter-skelter roller coaster ride of emotions dealing with a crush….being absolutely consumed with the thought of a person and then having those feelings exacerbated by their actual presence. It was an incredible sense of euphoria but also gut-wrenching in some aspects, particularly, if the person was oblivious to my feelings lol.

Ava conveys this masterfully as she sings reflectively over a midtempo dream pop-like instrumentation; ethereal and atmospheric in its tone. The soundscape is driven by a bellowing grand piano chord progression that injects a cinematic flair into the track as it has a majestic presence. The composition also features a pulsating bassline that sits prominently in the mix while complemented by a free flowing percussion pattern.

Lyrics for “give me you”

LYRICS AND MUSIC BY: Ava Bryant

Verse 1:
Sun kissed hair
No fair
You’re perfect
Got me thinking that you might be worth it all
Got me thinking I’ll fall
One glass deep
I feel it happen
Knees touch
Full blush
I got it bad
But is it really that bad?

Prechorus:
Boy, you gotta know just what you’re doing
Look at me, you really put me through it
You should know it’s rare for me to know what I want

Chorus:
Give me seconds
Into your heaven
Cuz I want
What you’re giving
As long as I’m getting you
More of you
Give me seconds
Into your heaven
Cuz I want
What you’re giving
As long as I’m getting through
Oh to you

Verse 2:
Dark brown eyes
Your tight, knit sweater
I know I should know better
Oo
But what can I do?

Pre:
Boy, you gotta know just what you’re doing
Look at me
You really put me through it
You should know it’s rare for me to know what I want
(I want you)

Chorus:
Give me seconds
Into your heaven
Cuz I want
What you’re giving
As long as I’m getting you
More of you
Give me seconds
Into your heaven
Cuz I want
What you’re giving
As long as I’m getting through
Oh to you
Give me you

Bridge:
When tonight is over
You’ll be gone
I know where we stand but still
(I keep hoping)
After everything is said and done
You’ll consider coming back
(And we can)
Watch our friends get in their cars and go
Leave no trace of parties past
(But we felt it)
After everything is said and done
Please consider coming back
(So you can)

Chorus:
Give me seconds
Into your heaven
Cuz I want
What you’re giving
As long as I’m getting you
More of you
Give me seconds
Into your heaven
Cuz I want
What you’re giving
As long as I’m getting through
Oh to you
Give me you

Outro:
When tonight is over
You’ll be gone
I know where we stand but still
(I keep hoping)
After everything is said and done
You’ll consider coming back
(And we can)
Watch our friends get in their cars and go
Leave no trace of parties past
(But we felt it)
After everything is said and done
Please consider coming back
