M.D. Chau is an avant-garde songwriter, producer and recording artist who was formerly known as Minh, a moniker under which he released five studio albums since his debut in 2006 with the album Life. Love. Soul.

The Vietnamese Los Angeles-based creative attained a substantial level of success releasing music as Minh with his eclectic mix of pop, electronic and soul elements, earning placements in high profile television programs such as 90210 and National Geographic. M.D. also signed to the same management company as R&B/neo-soul icon Erykah Badu which opened up a bevy of opportunities including not only opening for Ms. Badu, but other luminaries of soul music such as The Isley Brothers and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.

After a brief hiatus from music and taking the opportunity to solidify his entrepreneurial endeavors, M.D. has resurfaced in the music arena with a renewed sense of purpose and approach to his artistry. M.D. is now intent on making music that personally resonates with him and is meaningful in all respects, regardless “whether someone likes it or not”. His artistry is a 100% genuine extension of his heartfelt thoughts and world view and M.D. has cultivated this forward-thinking mindset into a profoundly intriguing new song and composition titled “Stand Next to Me” .

“Stand Next to Me” is an eloquently written and likewise vocally performed track in which M.D. delivers an emotive, deeply expressive vocal performance imploring the world to come together in unity, respect each other’s circumstances and have the ability to show compassion and empathy for others. The masterful lyrical content also asks that we put a halt to the divisiveness tearing us apart; also reminding people that despite cultural, religious and ethnic differences, we’re all humans and essentially want the same things out of life.

M.D. reveals that “Stand Next to Me” was “inspired by all the Asian hate crimes as well as other injustices happening across the world. Wanted to encourage empathy and unity.”

The song serves as a bona fide beacon for championing basic human rights and its poignant words are laid out over a mellow instrumentation that features a mellifluous grand piano characterized by soft, engaging notes and a plush choral background vocal section that takes on the aural energy of an expansive gospel choir. It amplifies the elements of soul in this song and presents an almost anthemic mystique as the track enters its climatic points.

M.D. Chau Bio

M.D. Chau, a recording artist and music producer who formerly went by “Minh”, has released a new single called “Stand Next To Me”. The song was quietly released on 2/22/22 as he took a step back into the music after a brief haitus. With “Minh” being such a popular Vietnamese name, you may find it hard to search out his previous releases. And, you might be surprise to learn that he has released five independent albums since 2006. His first album “Life. Love. Soul.” was discovered by Matthew Knowles (Beyonce’s dad and then-manager). While not much more came out of the initial discovery, M.D. continued to release music.

His second album, “Dreamgirl’s Heart” was a daring blend of melodic pop, electro, and soul. His song “Going Going Gone” from that album was featured in a pivotal scene on 90210 where Ivy crashed into a rock while surfing. His song “Dreaming” used as trailer music for a National Geographic show about people walking a tightrope on high peaks. He was eventually signed onto the same management team as Erykah Badu, which led to him opening for Ms. Badu herself as well as soul music legends such as The Isley Brothers, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, and others.

With “Stand Next To Me”, he is reinventing himself and getting back on the music scene as M.D. Chau. Now an entrepreneur who is still an artist at heart, he’s no longer chasing fame or even a big payday. He just wants to put out creative projects that is personally meaningful – it doesn’t really matter much whether someone likes it or not.
