Rapper AP is an emerging recording artist prime to drop the proverbial hammer on the music industry as he ascends in the rap landscape with his assortment of quintessential trap hip-hop bangers.
The gifted creative dropped a stellar, breakthrough 13-track album project in 2021 titled Never Left which features such standout tracks as “Deadbeat”, “Hot” and my personal favorite off the album, “Deadbeat”. AP solidified the project’s majestic beats and soundscapes with a dynamic, versatile vocal flow and delivery throughout…displaying a tremendous command of the wordplay and prowess on the microphone that sets an emcee apart from the pack.
AP brings that same vibe and energy to a follow up single to his album release titled “Helppp”. ‘Helppp” is a trap hip-hop extravaganza replete with the booming, grandiose style instrumental consisting of a palpitating 808 and bass line, layered by the infectious musicality of a grand piano melody and violin phrase that injects the rhythmic component of the track.
The production is top notch in every aspect from the choice of instruments to the imaginative sound design. I love the ominous way the track begins as the violin part enters solo with the feel of an old crime drama or scene in a film leading up to a climatic conclusion…whatever the case, it has a tremendous cinematic aura to it.
AP’s matter of fact, take it for what it is type of vocal flow just adds an extra mystique to the overall song. AP rides the wave of the instrumentation flawlessly as he delivers his bars in a crisp fashion. His vocal stylings illustrate the depth of his skillset as a rapper. “Helppp” is a pure boommode track for sure from a beat perspective and also factoring in the strength of the lyrical content and vocal presentation…. all the way lit!
