Yii Money is a rising rapper and recording artist out of Waterbury, Connecticut, who is putting the hip-hop game on notice with a distinct vocal tone, delivery, and flow that he brings forth with each track. His voice bustles with energy and possesses a commanding stature with each bar that he busts.
Carrying a strong pen game as well by incorporating his life experiences into his music, Yii Money has manifested his long-time passion for hip-hop into a burgeoning career which has seen him drop a variety of singles, including today’s spotlight track titled, “They Frontin’”, released via Money Music Records.
“They Frontin’” is a banging trap hip-hop bonanza type of track accompanied by a dazzling music video. It is a visual spectacle on its own with its rapid transitioning cuts and captivating imagery. But hey, I digress, let’s get into what factors make this song a certified banger from the music standpoint.
The production level is out the roof as your listening senses are stimulated with a catchy melody out the gate. It has a cinematic air to it which is embellished with a rousing synth phrase that builds the song up from the intro into an explosive drop composed of a speaker-rattling 808 and bass drum that’s amplified with a booming bassline along with the same pattern.
The resounding low-end frequencies of the soundscape are contrasted nimbly by Yii Money’s high-pitched, wily flow that drips with swagger and innate confidence in himself and everything he’s speaking on. His vocal inflections project an unwavering determination that matches up with the song’s concept perfectly as Yii Money calls out the people who operate under false pretense and expose them for the sham that they are.
Yii Money shares, “Countless times, people who were supposed to be my friends have crossed me and betrayed me. Loyalty is important to me, and if you don’t have it, we can’t be cool.”
