Lewis Ozar is a singer, songwriter that possesses a style which is easy to gravitate to as his artistry is not contrived and not built on any shallow premises. The earnest recording artist comes off with a genuineness in his music that draws in the listener as his vocals maintain a melodic “matter-of-fact” style flow throughout his songs, almost like he’s giving a grand presentation or speaking amongst a group of associates, just sonically. His overall tone is engaging which makes you feel like a part of the music excursion that the song takes you on.

Having established our thoughts on Lewis the artist, today we’re spotlighting a new single released by him titled “Dear Madness”, his second project of 2022 and serves as a strong follow-up to his first single release of this year “Commit Myself” which also vividly captures Lewis’ creative authenticity.

“Dear Madness” contains a unique soundscape that contains the core contemporary pop elements but also incorporates underpinnings of jazz and big band. It’s quite a distinct sound that’s somewhat nostalgic in a sense, definitely bending the conventional definition and conceptions of any genre. The instrumentation features a wonderful rolling piano riff and phrase that’s buoyant and carries a definitive pep that complements Lewis’ vocal presentation extremely well.

I enjoyed the variety of vocal inflections and shifts in tone/cadence that he utilized in this song, sounds like he’s just having a naturally good time performing the track, just letting his persona run free with the lyrics. As I listen and read the lyrical content, “Dear Madness” symbolizes to me the chaotic world that we live in, the challenges it presents, and Lewis’ open letter to “Madness” stating that he will not be a victim of it…. reasserting he’s in it for the long haul to finish whatever he’s set out to complete. That’s my take on it.

The full lyrics are included below so you can gather your own insight and opinion into the song. “Dear Madness” is available on all streaming platforms (Spotify link below). Stream it! Playlist it and save it to your Favorites Library! Share it on your social media feeds and stories as well.

Also below is a link to the official music video where you can watch Lewis perform the song in a variety of local settings, once again, just being himself. No grandiose sets or exotic locations, just a singer-songwriter expressing his craft. Enjoy the vibes!

“Dear Madness” Lyrics

Oh-oh
Ta-da
He-ye
I don’t know where to go
I’m out of my head
But I’m in control
You don’t know where you are
Won’t know where I am
I don’t need your guide
‘Cause I wanna see the stars
Underneath the sky
Wanna feel so high
You, get away from me
You won’t understand what I wanna be
How funny it is, I’m back here
And you think that I will summon thee
Oh dear madness, let me breathe
Until I finish what I wanted to complete
At least do that for me
I wanna feel the wind hitting all my face
And I wanna lose little common sense
This is a tricky mind, but which one is not?
I don’t wanna hear nothing but the wind
How funny it is, I’m back here
And you think that I will summon thee
Oh dear madness, let me breathe
Until I finish what I wanted to complete
At least do that for me

Oh-oh
He-ye
So you are thinking I’m about stop my path
Well, no my friend, I’m just starting and I won’t desert
You can be sure that oh, I won’t give in
Unless I’m dead
I won’t retrace my steps so easily
You better close your mouth, ’cause I want close my eyes
You don’t seem to know what you really have inside
Oh-oh it’s been so hard dealing with this
And all the time I’ve been alone
My life’s a mess, not a game, though
You shouldn’t try to get involved
How funny it is, I’m back here
And you think that I will summon thee
Oh dear madness, let me breathe
Until I finish what I wanted to complete
At least do that for me
