Riku(戮) has been a renowned figure on the Japanese rock scene for many years as he has performed as the lead singer of a number of prominent bands including Phantasmagoria and HISKAREA to name a few.

The ball of fire recording artist decided to test the waters and pursue a career as a solo artist last year. Having already established quite an extensive solo catalog in such a short period, Riku(戮) has dropped another kinetically rocking track titled “Angel feather (アマツカツバサ)”, which exhibits his penchant for writing songs with vivacious lyrical content; and the song also displays the high-powered vocal performances which have come to define his recordings.

“Angel feather (アマツカツバサ)” comes to us via Key Seek Records and is a track that is not only brimming over the edge with sonic energy, but also is a song that’s rife with poignant messaging and symbolism.

“Angel feather (アマツカツバサ)” touches on a very relatable topic of how people deal with tough situations or circumstances in their lives….and ultimately how they overcome those challenging times.

The symbolism of this challenged state of being is brilliantly captured in the opening montage of the song as a downcast melody is welcomed with Riku(戮)’s expressive vocal delivery which is intended to represent a metaphor for an angel that has a broken wing. The mood and aura that the soundscape projects convey that messaging perfectly.

Then the track takes an explosive turn as a medley of thunderous guitars and drums flood the instrumentation which Riku(戮) expertly corals with an exuberant vocal performance. Once again, this is a cue for a dose of musical symbolism as the instrumental’s elevation is meant to embody a person who is attempting to raise their spirits; to have an optimistic outlook and face the hardships of life head on.

Riku(戮) sings that at this point of self-realization, the angel feather becomes healed, and the angel can now soar into the sky. Compelling analogy! The mood shift is extreme sonically; however, it is carried off seamlessly by Riku(戮)’s vocal dexterity and is a nod to the production team for its attention to detail and arrangement. Riku(戮) turns in an extremely passionate vocal presentation which never dissipates from the moment he ramps up the tone.

“”Angel Feather” (アマツカツバサ)” is available on all streaming platforms (Spotify link below). Make sure to stream it! save it to your Favorites Library and share on your social media platforms. Immerse yourself in the throes of energy that this track projects. Enjoy!
