Britney Spears’ Court-Appointed Lawyer to Resign From Conservatorship
Sam D. Ingham III, Britney Spears’ longtime and court-appointed lawyer of 13 years is resigning from his post according to reports from TMZ and Deadline.
Ingham was appointed as Spears’ attorney in 2008 by Reva G. Goetz who was the former judge in the conservatorship case.
Ingham’s decision to resign was announced on the same day that reports surfaced about Spears’ longtime manager Larry Rudolph also stepping down.
Rudolph indicated that his decision was based on the increasing likelihood that Spears will retire, however, nothing has been confirmed.
Ingham filed the paperwork yesterday in Los Angeles Superior Court to officially resign. His resignation is also accompanied by that of the law firm Loeb & Loeb.
According to the court documents, the filing states that Ingham “hereby resigns as court-appointed counsel for BRITNEY JEAN SPEARS, conservatee, effective upon the appointment of new court-appointed counsel.”
Additional details involved in Spears’ controversial conservatorship case were disclosed in a New Yorker article posted on July 3.
The conservatorship has long been overseen by Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears.
The report highlights alleged abuses and mistreatment of Britney through the course of the conservatorship.
Late last month, Spears appeared at a court hearing and requested that the court-ordered conservatorship be terminated.
She stated that she was never aware that there was an option to request the end of the conservatorship.
