TikTok and Universal Music Unveil ‘Expanded Global Alliance’
Just days after Triller and Universal Music Group essentially declared war on each other, UMG has unveiled a global agreement with TikTok “that delivers equitable compensation for recording artists and songwriters and significantly expands and enhances the companies’ existing relationship, promoting the development of new innovative experiences,” the announcement reads.
Music Industry Moves: Apollo Theater Signs With UTA; BMG Streamlines U.S. Repertoire Operations
Talent and entertainment company has signed one of the most iconic music venues in the world, Harlem’s Apollo Theater , in all areas. According to the announcement, UTA will help expand the 87-year-old theater’s cultural influence, representation, and programming across TV, film, podcasts, publishing and events through its IP.
Justin Timberlake Joins Music City Grand Prix Ownership Group – Williamson Source
Music City Grand Prix announced additions to its previously announced ownership group for the inaugural urban street race in Nashville August 6-8, 2021. Mary Wilson, Co-Founder of the Supremes, Dies at 76
Vocalist Mary Wilson, who co-founded the Supremes as a 15-year-old in a Detroit housing project and stayed with the fabled, hitmaking Motown Records trio until its dissolution in 1977, died on Monday night at her home in Las Vegas. She was 76. Wilson’s longtime publicist, Jay Schwartz, reported that she died suddenly.
