Atlanta rapper Silento, who rose to fame with the 2015 viral hit “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” was arrested Monday for the alleged murder of his cousin, Frederick Rooks.
According to DeKalb County jail records, Silento, whose real name is Ricky Hawk was booked on suspicion of felony murder.
The DeKalb County Police Department’s incident report indicates that officers discovered Frederick Rooks lying on a road in Panthersville, a town southeast of Atlanta, about 3:30 a.m. on January 21.
The report states that the 34-year old Rooks had been shot in the face and leg. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.

Authorities were initially called to the scene after neighbors in the area heard several gunshots.
Surveillance footage also captured a number of cars rapidly departing the scene according to the police report.
The department did not reveal in the report, however, how investigators identified Silento as the suspect.
Law authorities are actively investigating the case and seeking to uncover a motive for the killing.
Representatives for Silento have not responded to media requests for comment at the moment.
Silento, 23, became a viral wonder in 2015 with the single, “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)”.
The ensuing dance craze notched the young rapper a top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and a variety of award nominations.
In addition, the frenzy behind the song propelled almost 1.8 billion views on YouTube.
