The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has made a rapid and tremendous impact on the world since the first case was reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019.
Barely four months later, the spread of the coronavirus has compelled the World Health Organization to classify the disease as a pandemic.
Local and national governments around the world have reacted accordingly.
Effects on the Music Industry
The music industry has reacted just as adeptly.
The past few weeks have seen a bevy of concerts, festivals and conferences either postponed until later in the year or completely cancelled.
Prominent artists such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, Pearl Jam and BTS have cancelled upcoming tour dates due to safety precautions or international travel restrictions.
Meanwhile, popular music festivals/conferences such as Coachella and SXSW have been impacted by COVID-19.
Coachella has postponed its April fest until October while the March SXSW conference to be held in Austin, TX was cancelled entirely.
