The wide-ranging musical talents of South Florida DJ and producer OZY are manifested in a multitude of facets. OZY has an extensive music background dating back to his childhood which has seen him develop into a bona fide multi-instrumentalist, as well as a producer and recording artist who has the wherewithal to create music across a variety of genres.

OZY’s catalog of work contains a riveting mix of EDM styles, hip-hop, R&B and electropop elements that he has showcased prominently since his debut EP Vice in 2019.

Tapping into the electronic music component of his production skillset, OZY has dropped a new tech house track titled “Dakini” on his self-owned label, Zaftig Records. “Dakini” is a six-minute plus composition that’s long on groove and looms even larger with its musicality.

OZY shares some insight into how the concept of the track developed:

Dakini was just an idea that came about after a long week of bouncing between the club and the studio. Going straight from the club to the studio helps me work better after hours of listening to music all that’s left is all the different sounds and melodies hear throughout out the night. Dakini is no different. within 3 hours I already had the basics of what the track would eventually unfold out to become.

The instrumentation of “Dakini” contains an incredible collection of elements that all seamlessly work in conjunction to make it a big tyme track. The heart of the soundscape is driven by a buzzing synth bass which pulsates across a thumping kick drum that is masterfully surrounded by a celestial collection of ethereal sounds and melodies.

This tone and style goes back to the profound musicality of the track that I referenced earlier. A challenge with any track that doesn’t have vocals is to maintain the listener’s interest throughout the instrumental piece…telling a story and or creating a vibe sonically, and OZY meets and exceeds that challenge head on with “Dakini”.

Displaying his penchant for arrangement, the placement of the mood shifts, transitions, drops and climaxes keeps the song rolling on without a hitch to the point where after repeat listens, I couldn’t believe the six minutes had come to a conclusion. Top notch production and sound design are key to giving a listener that exact feeling and I believe it’s a safe bet that you will feel the same once you start jamming to “Dakini”.

“Dakini” is available on all streaming platforms and you can dive into the incessant grooves via the Spotify or YouTube links below. OZY Bio

Michael Pascual, also known as OZY, is a South Florida based DJ and Music Producer. While being raised solely by his mother, OZY was exposed to several different types of music genres growing up. Hip-Hop being one, he could relate to the countless stories about absent fathers. At a young age, OZY was introduced to gain knowledge on how to play several instruments.

From learning how to play the guitar to the piano and eventually the trumpet. During his adolescence, 80’s music was always playing around the house. From Madonna to Michael Jackson, the ’80s were alive and well in his home. Hip-Hop was a huge interest of his and inevitably went on to study music theory at Full Sail University- a private for-profit in Winter Park, Florida.

He is now the sole founder of Zaftig Records, an up and coming international music label. OZY has created with several producers, local and major artists across the board like Kanye West, London on the Track, French Montana, Justin Quiles, Mau y Ricky and many more. Ozy is excited for everyone to hear his new single “Dakini” out now on all major steaming platforms.
