First thing’s first, Slidin’ by Jason Derulo is definitely a pool party song. That’s perfect considering the name of the song. Retro is definitely in and this one does it well. If you say you can sit still while listening to this, you’re lying. Jason Derulo really makes use of the funky instrumental with a melody that’s just as catchy as the rhythm. Not to mention those high notes fit right in too.
Kodak Black’s verse is good as usual. His way of playing with flow gives us some variety to the song and feels like the start of some subtle changes for the rest of the song. Changes that include the synth you wouldn’t realize was missing from the melody and a chorus with just enough difference to start to make the song feel new. But that feeling is too little too late as you hear the song come to a close. You can’t deny that at two minutes and thirty-five seconds, this one is just not enough. Luckily, it’s not length that keeps you wanting more. You’ll definitely be playing this song on repeat at the function.
