THIS DAY IN MUSIC HISTORY April 15: Mary J. Blige Hits the R&B Record Books
On this day in music history April 15, 2006, R&B legendary songstress Mary J. Blige set a record when her single “Be Without You”, off The Breakthrough album, held on to the #1 spot on the R&B charts for the 15th consecutive week. It broke the record set just the previous year by Mariah Carey with her hit “We Belong to Together”.
The song would go on to win the 2007 GRAMMY Award for Best R&B Song.
