The musical excursion of veteran recording artist Cory Driscoll has taken on a variety of shapes and forms which has adventurously veered across such genre categories as folk, punk, rock and pop. The Jacksonville, Florida based creative has encapsulated his extensive music background as a singer, songwriter and musician into his latest album project, an inventive collaborative effort titled “Eureka Springs” that was composed and recorded virtually across a talented network of musicians across the United States whom Cory was worked with on separate occasions in the past.

“Eureka Springs” is the culmination of an imaginative feat, and the final result is a 9-track consortium of musical ingenuity. As the album encompasses the vision and artistic input of nine different sets of musicians and recorded apart from each other, you can only imagine the marvelous diversity of styles and sonics that you hear with each individual track on this album. The “wow factor” is off the charts!

Cory Driscoll

“Eureka Springs” is a harmonious amalgamation of abstract sound elements, intricate musicality, ethereal soundscapes and the grandiose presence of Cory’s vocals throughout the album; kudos on the postproduction aspect in this respect in that his vocals sit so perfectly and largesse in the mix…allowing the instrumentation to shine while also accentuating his distinct vocal timbre, which takes on a psychedelic presence in a sense as he croons ever so smoothly.

The album takes your listening senses in a number of stylistic directions…you’re greeted with the bright, indie pop opening song “Ahead of My Heels”, followed by a more cutting-edge rock infused ‘Promised Land”, which leads to an experimental pop type song and composition “What Happens”. In contrast, there are other tracks which project a wistful, down-home aura, similar to folk/Americana and country music such as “Magnetic Springs” and “Hope Changes” while the album’s track “Eureka Springs” is an avant-garde instrumental song which is nearly meditative in its mellowness.

The “Eureka Springs” album is available on all streaming platforms (Spotify link below). Stream these eclectic compositions on rewind and repeat and save them to your Favorites Library! This is a seminal album project by Cory Driscoll and is a testament to the innovative approach in his artistry. Also, please mark your calendars for March 25 as the video for “Ahead of My Heels” is primed for release soon. Enjoy!

More About “Eureka Springs”

Plentiful with metaphor, the album title “Eureka Springs” is named after a town directly on top of a rich natural water source in Arkansas. There are twenty-six springs in the two square miles that make up the town. Before colonial settlement, the place was of significant importance to the Native American tribes in the area, each agreeing that there was to be no fighting in this sacred place. Later it became a stop on the Trail of Tears, providing temporary refuge to the people being displaced. During the western expansion, this land in Arkansas was deeded to a doctor who turned it into a health tourist destination promising the water’s healing power after “miracles” occurred. Cory states, “The history of the land made me feel very connected to the place and the mythical nature of the life-giving spring… it’s rife with poetic language.”

More About Cory Driscoll

Cory has been writing songs for twenty years. His first releases were folk songs on tape. He formed the post-punk band Curious Animals in Tallahassee, Florida, active from 2008-2011, followed by the post-rock band Young Adult active from 2012-2016. In 2018 Cory released his first self-titled EP, “Tropical Depression.” The seven-song album is a narrative about a family forming and falling apart over a rained-out vacation. “Tropical Depression” was followed by the 2020 production of “Family Threads,” a mixed-media performance weaving dance and poetry to a score by Severed+Said.
