The multi-dimensional artistry of Ghanian recording artist Nana Kottens takes form in a diverse variety of ways. The talented visionary is a singer, songwriter, producer, multi-lingual wordsmith and entrepreneur as the CEO and founder of Sound Lion Records. Nana has channeled his extensive musical background and experience as a label boss to aspiring African artists around the world into a new single release for his eclectic catalog, a dynamic collection of songs that blend hip-hop, soul, afrobeats and Caribbean influences.

Nana’s new single is titled “Call Girl”, a veritable hip-hop/R&B style ballad which is accompanied by an equally illustrative music video. Released just about a month ago, the video has been received with a resounding amount of support already amassing over 400,000 views on YouTube. Incredible numbers in the first month of release!

“Call Girl” is a cautionary tale of how the malicious spreading of misinformation and rumors about people without facts or any basis of truth can be a detriment not only to that person, but to those who are close to them; and care about them. “Call Girl” touches on the malevolent side of gossip and misguided innuendo. Nana presents the lyrical concept in an exceptionally expressive vocal performance as his stylings flow in a melodic rap/R&B singing type of delivery. His voice projects a contrasting tone of defiance and yet sometimes doubt as he laments the woman that he loves has been suspected of being a “call girl”, selling her body for money. People around the community have gossiped about it. He has heard the whispers from his friends…he longingly bellows on the hook; “I don’t want to be with no call girl….

The instrumentation of “Call Girl” is a mellow fusion of hip-hop and R&B, containing the drum track prevalent in the rap genre and a mellifluously rolling piano phrase that injects romanticism and a theatrical air into the song. The song enters from the opening note with the aforementioned piano roll and it sets the stage for the cinematic aura that defines the soundscape.

“Call Girl” is available on all streaming platforms (Spotify and YouTube music video links below). Stream it! playlist it! and save it to your Favorites! Please take a moment to also share the track on your social media platforms. Lastly, check out the “Call Girl” music video that is garnering a significant amount of support across the YouTube platform. Enjoy!
