  • Hi Tanja, Welcome to StreamLINE! Thank you for taking some time out to speak with us about your artistry and music career. We’re looking forward to our audience learning more about you. Thank you for sharing your story. We appreciate it!
  • Please tell us a bit about your background, where you’re from etc. What were your early music influences?

I come from a musical family, my mother was a professional violinist and this helped me to feel, grasp and understand music in its entirety. I started to play violin at the age of 4. During my schooltime in Basel I developed my interest in musical and theatre as well as songwriting. It was out of my urge to express my inner state of mind that I started with singing.

  • What was the defining moment or time in your life when you decided to pursue music on a professional level?

It became professional from the moment I met my current producer and manager, about 3 years ago. I had some music projects by then, but they were all more or less a journey of discovery and were limited to the purely artistic aspects, which also has its appeal and necessarily belongs in the history of all music creators. But yes, it got really serious when I started working with my producer.

  • How would you characterize your sound and what inspires your creativity? Is it actual life events/experiences or just a vibe that you get?

I would say my sound is melodic, vibrant, yet sometimes vulnerable and sometimes energetic. It shows as well my melancholic sides and also my life loving lively side. I definitely enjoy following vibes that I get while songwriting and I love to improvise with my vocals too. Working on a professional level definitely helped to focus on my skills in creating music.

  • Congratulations on your debut single Lost in Paradise. Please tell us how the idea for the song came about. What was the recording process like?

My producer presented me with a lot of lyrics and in several steps we picked out a handful of lyrics together, lyrics that touched me deeply as I said.

His plan was that as a newcomer, I should first get into the feeling of making music, and start with a few songs that I could strongly influence, both in lyrics and music.

In the end, there were four songs left that grew in this way. And because creation, production and release are on a timeline in succession and the process for the artist differs considerably, my producer has given me a head start in this way.

Now, while these first songs are being released, I am already working on my own songs, which can then be released seamlessly.

  • What’s the best advice that you’ve been given; either personally or professionally?

It would be the advice that a good friend gave me, while struggling to put all my interest into one thing: Your patience will be rewarded.

  • What is the best concert or theatre performance you have ever attended in person and why?

Emeli Sandé at the Avo Session! We stormed forward at the end of the concert! It was THE concert experience at all, her sound was ecstatic and she was absolutely authentic.

  • What activities do you enjoy outside of your music endeavors?

Family life, studies and journalism completely fill the life outside of music.
