Rapper and music executive Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee this Wednesday afternoon according to information provided ny law enforcement sources FOX13 Memphis.

The shooting happened at a bakery called Makeda’s Butter Cookies in South Memphis. The owner, Maurice Hill, recounted to FOX 13 that his employees told him that Young Dolph, 36, entered the shop to buy cookies when someone then drove up and shot and killed him around 1:00 p.m.

Shortly before 5 p.m., Memphis police released preliminary information about the shooting. Officers said information is pointing to Young Dolph being the victim, but they said the identification process has not been completed.

Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., was pronounced dead on the scene by attending police.

Memphis police called the shooting “senseless” and expressed that “our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who were affected by this horrific act of violence.”

Unfortunately, this wasn’t Dolph’s first experience being the target of a shooting. Despite his success as a recording artist and music executive, Dolph has had a number of attempts on his life over the recent years.

Most notably, in February 2017, more than 100 gun shots were fired at his SUV in Charlotte, North Carolina. Somehow he emerged unscathed and would go on to release a song detailing the incident titled “100 Shots”.
