In a world that throws endless content in your face, discovering new artists can be an easy yet ironically daunting task. But worry not, for I have curated a five song playlist of new releases that have caught my unadulterated love and attention. While these songs have a slow-tempo, their rich melodic tunes and playful elements make them a must-save to anyone’s library.

1.) “Atlantis (Feat. Phoebe Bridgers)” by Noah Gundersen

The first song in queue is “Atlantis (Feat. Phoebe Bridgers)” by Noah Gundersen that is also featured on his album, A Pillar of Salt. Both artists, waho collaborated on a mashup remix mashup of each one of their songs (“Killer + The Sound”), strike again with their renown soothing voices to sing in this beautiful somber masterpiece. While the song, containing atmospheric soundscapes with a gentle acoustic guitar riff and piano chords accompanied with a soft beat, the lyrics contain a heavier element. Themes of loss, grief, love, and “what if’s” are the heart of the song that brings any listener’s full attention.

2.) “3 Moods” by Abe Parker

The Atlanta singer-songwriter released this catchy somber song dealing with issues such as heartbreak, confusion, and grief, allowing those who have gone through similar issues to relate. While the song obviously leans towards the “sad song” category, Parker’s use to playful elements and tunes keeps the song feeling fresh and exciting.

3.) “miss sick world” by Alex Porat

Third in queue is “miss sick world” by Toronto pop artist, Alex Porat. While this slow-tempered song is composed of acoustic guitar and tambourine-sounding down beats, Porat, who sings with a light melodic voice, sings of the hard realities society places on people while while declaring her individuality.

4.) “Note To Self” by Bre Kennedy

Next is “Note To Self” by Bre Kennedy, which was released on her Note To Self album. The album, which is the product of her introspective time during the Covid-19 quarantine, is the epitome of what it means to be expressively vulnerable. While the lyrics can be listened as if the singer is singing to a loved one, listeners can also shift perspectives by hearing Kennedy sing to herself making the song hauntingly alluring.

5.) “Colors” by Lauren Jauregui

Last on the list is “Colors” by former Fifth Harmony singer, Lauren Jauregui. While the piece begins slow with light piano chords followed by strings, it cascades into a R&B beat with Jauregui, whose commanding voice alongside spoken her word, creates a song that sends one into a flood of emotions as she tackles society’s pressures placed on her.
