fl-aura is a singer-rapper trio out of Sacramento, CA. Today, we’re going to touch on the group’s recent release titled “Work Boots”.
The story behind “Work Boots” was explained as follows by one-third of the unique sounding trio:
Work Boots are actually a metaphor for emotional armor or protection.
I remember one of my friends, before she embarked for work for the day, she would put on these work-designated boots. While mostly for work utility, I think the work boots also served as a way to mentally prepare herself for the day to come.
I thought making a song based around this idea of putting on an emotional guard every time you step outside would be applicable to a lot of people.
fl-aura draws their inspiration from the intrinsic convergence of music and nature and have carried such a vibe to “Work Boots” with its distinct sonics and soundscape.
The instrumentation has an ambient, atmospheric timbre consisting of a compelling blend of soulful, R&B melodies layering a classic hip-hop drum track.
fl-aura clearly distinguish themselves from the pack with such a standout type of production scheme.
The group complements these distinct sonics with an authentic vocal delivery that vividly tells the story of the song’s concept. It has a cool, understated tone and flows melodically over the abstract bed of instruments.
