R&B singer and producer R. Kelly has been found guilty of multiple charges including sexual exploitation of a child, racketeering and sex trafficking consisting of five victims.

The guilty verdict is a culmination of over 25 years of innuendo and accusations including a federal court trial in New York that spanned seven weeks.

Kelly is looking at a possible sentence of ten years to a daunting life sentence in prison. The one-time R&B mega star sat still as the foreperson provided the jury’s verdict to Judge Ann Donnelly.

There were a total of fourteen alleged underlying acts which were associated with the racketeering charge.

The government only required proof of only two of the racketeering acts to secure a guilty charge.

The jury concluded that the government had proved twelve of the fourteen illegal acts, which involved the aforementioned five victims: the late R&B singer Aaliyah, as well as women named Stephanie, Jerhonda Pace, Jane and Faith.

The two remaining illegal acts which were not able to be proved were associated with an alleged victim named Sonja.

It’s important to note that most of the alleged victims went solely by their first names or assumed pseudonyms.

Federal prosecutors successfully proved to a jury of seven men and five women that Kelly had been the head of a criminal enterprise whose main purpose was to satisfy his sexual gratification through luring women, girls and boys to the R&B singer.

In addition to the lurid charges he’s been convicted of, Kelly will also face a second federal trial in Illinois on accusations and charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice.

A portion of those accusations are related to a 2008 child pornography trial in Chicago in which Kelly was acquitted of all charges.

Kelly also faces outstanding criminal charges in both Cook County, Illinois and Minnesota.

In Illinois, he was indicted by the state attorney in February 2019 for aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four victims, three of which are minors.

In Minnesota, Kelly was charged with engaging in prostitution with a minor in August 2019.

R. Kelly’s sentencing is scheduled for May 4 in New York.
